Come along to hear all the latest details about Interest Group activities, sign up for future Events and chat with fellow u3a members. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits are available.
Most months there is a guest speaker and one or more of the Interest Groups put on a display where you can find out more about that group's activities and have a chance to talk to some of the group. In June and December the meeting is more of a social event.

Mary’s Meals
General Meeting: March 2025 Jane Wright was a trained primary teacher who changed careers to work for Mary’s Meals, a charity providing meals to schoolchildren in the poorest areas of the world. She is based in the East Midlands and East Anglia and she introduced us to the charity and its fundraising. Jane wanted to increase awareness in the charity. House Of Commons Library
General Meeting: February 2025 Felicity Whittle worked for over 29 years in the House of Commons Library in various roles and she gave us an insight into the workings of Parliament. The proceedings and legislature must be impartial and some is confidential e.g. constituency matters, but the rest is available on the website and in Hansard. Felicity had a wealth of fascinating, often amusing detail about the day to day running of such an organisation, including Seb Coe ‘s office being situated the furthest distance from the Division lobbies as he could run quickly! The House of Commons rooms and… Read More

Military Working Dogs
General Meeting: January 2025 The speaker was Pam Farquhar who spoke to us about military working dogs, past and present. She’s not the only one, General David Petraeus is quoted: “by all means of performance” military working dogs outperform” any asset we have in our industry”.… Read More

Christmas Social
General Meeting: November 2024 We finalised 2024 with our Christmas Social event on Thursday December 19th, it was a fun morning with a good attendance. Thanks must be extended to all those that played a part in making the event successful. Deidre Williamson began by reading two short Christmas poems that beautifully set the scene for our celebrations. Following Deidre our brave committee men took to the stage entertaining us with a ballet interpretation to Cygnet from Swan Lake (a short drink break provided John White with the opportunity to tease our gents with a rendition of the Dying Swan… Read More

In the Event of Bad Weather
If the weather or driving conditions are bad on the day of a General Meeting, there is a possibility that we may decide to cancel the meeting. If that happens we will post a very obvious notice on the website and email all our members. If in doubt please check those before setting out from home. If you do not have an email address, you may ring our U3A number 0778 742 7200 and speak to a member of the committee.
